Teen Talk: COVID-challenge among teens

Posted on

Being a teenager is a phase that all of us gets through. And I find it innate in us, teenagers, to be adventurous to the point of sometimes missing what is essential. Having fun though fascinates more the senses than being involved with serious tasks, but then again, we are being reminded of our social responsibilities when larger contexts take place.

Being a teenager during the Coronavirus (COVID-19) hype is something that would challenge teens today. Because of the said virus, we were locked up in our homes and follow specific protocols that would not only protect us from the disease, but also prevent us from being able to have fun and explore the things that would fullfill our urge to savor our momentum as teenagers.

But not only does this affect our entertainment and social life, as this also affects our education. A lot of us were used to the thought of seeing our teachers, classmates, and friends in school. COVID-19 has posed a change as well as challenge in learning experiences, like how we transition from a classroom setting towards virtual class online. It made adjustments to not only the students but also the teachers who are used to giving their lessons and interacting with their students inside classrooms.

We got used to being able to be around other people, and in one snap, we immediately need to isolate ourselves from others as much as possible to be able to protect and ensure our own health. But despite these issues, we must prioritize our health and help one another in following the protocols that need to be done.

I guess, it is not that hard to contribute to helping other people stop the virus by washing our hands alone, for example, as that would help a lot in being less immune to bacteria and viruses. We are able to help our front-liners by staying at home and be more cautious around other people. And above all, let us continue to develop that attitude of being positive and resilient during these times.~ Althea Beatrice Caduaya-Felizarta
