DAVAO CITY, Philippines — Elements of the Calinan Police intercepted P14.4 million worth of illegal drugs attempting to enter Davao City from Cagayan de Oro City on Wednesday night.

Based on the PNP report, the drugs originated from Cagayan de Oro City. The two suspected drug couriers boarded a vehicle at the borders of the Davao-Bukidnon road. Upon reaching the Task Force Davao-controlled checkpoint in Barangay Lacson around 3:00 in the afternoon, the two passengers attempted to flee from law enforcers and discarded the package they were carrying.

At the checkpoint, all passengers of public transport must disembark for inspection. The police at the checkpoint tagged, marked, and inventoried the obtained evidence. However, they are still searching for one of the male passengers who managed to escape.
