DAVAO CITY — The Bureau of Customs (BOC) stationed at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport arrested a passenger after authorities found P18-million worth of cocaine concealed inside her luggage, the agency reported on Friday.
The incident happened on August 24 at the terminal 3 from Addis Ababa via Ethiopian Airlines ET 664, according to the BOC’s press statement.
The agency did not identify the Filipina passenger but stated her luggage underwent rigorous screening, including x-ray scanning, K9 inspection, and a thorough physical examination. The examination revealed 3,454 grams of cocaine concealed inside the luggage, with an estimated value of Php18,306,200.00 as confirmed by Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
She is now charged for violating Republic Act No. 9165, known as the Comprehensive Drug Act, and Republic Act No. 10863, also known as the Customs Modernization and Tariff Act (CMTA).
