DAVAO CITY — The Presidential Assistant for Mindanao has issued a warning to all speculators who has been using his name to corner government contracts and gain access to government funds.

Leo A. Magno, the Presidential assistant for Eastern Mindanao in a statement issued Wednesday states:

“I recently have been receiving information and requests from several officials in Mindanao asking for my intercession and/or approval on government projects.

As the Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao, my only role is to “monitor the status and evaluate the implementation of national programs and projects in Eastern Mindanao”.

I do not have the capacity to approve projects.

But information reaching my Office seemed to portray the OPAMIN Eastern as the approving authority in all government projects that would be implemented in Mindanao and, outrageously, even in other parts of the country.

I am issuing this statement to clarify this matter and to issue a warning to anyone and everyone who wants to put this Office in a bad light and use the same for their own self-vested interests.

The Office of the Presidential Assistant for Eastern Mindanao is not dipping its fingers in the implementation and awarding of government projects. I would like to reiterate that our Office is only on the monitoring and evaluation of projects and not on implementation and awarding.

I hope this clarifies everything, and to all government contractors I am appealing to you to simply follow the legal processes of doing business with the government.”

Magno, young leader who is known in Davao City as a technocrat said “I live a clean record as private person and I cannot be in any way an influence to anyone except to protect the interest of the people.”-Editha Z. Caduaya
