DAVAO CITY — The Philippine Air Force (PAF) is now conducting an investigation to determine the possible reason behind the crash of the UH-1H Huey helicopter in Barangay Bulonay, Impasugong, Bukidnon at around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, January 16, that resulted in the death of the seven soldiers aboard.

“Hindi po malinaw kasi kung ano ang report na binibigay sa atin kaya po tayo magpapadala ng mag-iimbestiga para malaman po natin kung ano po ang cause ng insidente,” said PAF spokesperson Lt. Col. Aristides Galang on Sunday in an interview with reporters.

“Sa ngayon po, hindi pa po natin masasabi kung ano po talaga ‘yung cause of incident,” Galang said.

The crash site remained off-limits to the public while PAF continues with its investigation.

Maj. Rodulfo Cordero Jr., spokesperson of the Army’s 4th Infantry Division said the helicopter that crashed was on its way to bring provisions to a remote army patrol base in Impasugong town.

The ill-fated helicopter came from the headquarters of the 403rd Infantry Brigade in Malaybalay City.

Cordero said those who died in the crash were Lt. Col. Arnie Arroyo, pilot; 2Lt. Mark Anthony Caabay, co-pilot; Sgt. Mervin Bersabe; Airman 1st Class Stephen Agarrado; Sgt. Julius Salvado, and Jerry Ayocdo, and Jhamel Sugalang, who are both members of the CAFGU Active Auxiliary Unit. – Newsline.ph
