PAL is ‘most on-time airline’ in Asia-Pacific in Jan: aviation consultancy

DAVAO CITY — The country’s flag carrier Philippine Airlines (PAL) was rated the most on-time airline in the Asia-Pacific in January, this is according to Cirium, a London-based aviation analytics released in February 21.

In the report, Ciruim stated Philippine Airlines (PR) “was the regional leader in January with an OTP of 86.85%, a near 4-point improvement from December’s performance.”

AirAsia (AK), who ranked fifth in December, took the second-place spot after a 2-point improvement in OTP (83.98%), followed by e. Vietnam Airlines (VN) finished the month in third place with an OTP of 83.85%, after a nearly 4-point improvement over December’s performance of 79.94%.

While Singapore Airlines (SQ) secured the fourth spot with an OTP of 82.96%. Thai AirAsia (FD) took fifth place with an OTP of 82.82%, a slight decrease in performance compared to December (84.09%).

The country’s flag carrier placed 3rd in November with an 83 percent on-time performance.

In a statement, PAL President and Chief Operating Officer Capt. Stanley K. Ng thanked his employees for working to boost their operations, as well as the government for improving the airspace to help them operate more efficiently.

“Philippine Airlines will continue to work in unison with government and industry partners to sustain and boost on-time performance in the interest of the flying public and the travel and tourism industry at large,” he said.-Althea Beatrice C. Felizarta
