HADJI MUTAHMAN, BASILAN—The Philippine Coast Guard Basilan Station, Substation Maluso on Tuesday, February 28, rescued six persons after the motorboat they were riding capsized off Pandak Island, Hadji Mutahman town in Basilan province.

Coast Guard Petty Officer I Kitchie Kamaluddin and his team rescued skipper Gabby Mundih and five others. The rescued persons came from Jolo, Sulu, and were on their way to Zamboanga City when they encountered big waves which damaged the hull of the motorbanca causing the seacraft to submerge.

“Immediately, Coast Guard Sub-Station Maluso deployed a Search and Rescue team composed of 4 CG personnel together with one relative of the distressed individuals and proceeded to the vicinity of the incident,” Kamaluddin said.

“The SAR team was able to locate the distressed vessel and safely brought all the six individuals to the Coast Guard Sub-Station Maluso for further help,” Kalimuddin added.
