PNP-12 confiscates truckload of smuggled cigarettes in Nocot town

DAVAO CITY — Members of the Philippine National Police Region 12 (PNP-12) confiscated a truck loaded with assorted smuggled cigarette which amounts to PhP 5,000,000.00 on Sunday dawn, November 14.

The PNP-12 in a statement said they received information that a six-wheeler loaded with smuggled goods was travelling from Davao del Sur to General Santos City at 3:40 in the morning.

Upon learning the report, PNP-12 regional Regional Director BrigGen. Alexander ordered a joint team to conduct a border checkpoint which resulted to the confiscation of smuggled cigarettes at Brgy. Old Bulatukan, Makilala, Cotabato.

The police identified the suspects as Rey Arnold Etil Mariscal, Rheno Quiao Mariscal, Romulo Calibo Soria, Pablito Agravante Elorcha, and Glenn Torres Judilla.

Police investigation showed that the truck loaded with smuggled cigarettes does not have proper documents.

The operatives also found Colt 45 with one magazine and five live ammunition inside the vehicle.

The said apprehended persons and confiscated goods were immediately brought to PRO 12 RHQ, Tambler, General Santos City for proper disposition and filing of appropriate charges in court.“
