DAVAO CITY — Police have successfully apprehended four suspects involved in the theft of a woman’s cellphone following a coordinated operation by Bajada Police Station 18 and Talomo Police Station 3 on Sunday

The suspects were caught at a hideout in Barangay 76-A, Bucana, Davao City. Among those arrested were two minors, one of whom fired a gun at the police during the operation. The suspects are linked to a series of robberies in Bajada and Sasa, Davao City.

The operation was initiated after Maria, a 28-year-old victim, reported that two men on a motorcycle robbed her mobile phone in Barangay Paciano Bangoy.

A joint effort by Bajada and Talomo police led to the arrest of 19-year-old “John” and the rescue of the two minors. The victim positively identified one of the suspects.

During the operation, another suspect, known as “Ken-Ken,” was apprehended after firing at the police. Authorities also recovered a revolver used in the incident and a motorcycle used as a getaway vehicle.

The suspects are believed to be part of a group responsible for looting and ransacking several establishments in the city, including those in Bajada and Sasa. CCTV footage showing a suspect with a distinctive tattoo was crucial in identifying them.

Police Captain Hazel Tuazon of the Davao City Police Office confirmed the details: “Thanks to reliable informants, we were able to track down the suspects based on their involvement in several break-ins. Despite their attempt to flee, our officers successfully apprehended them.”

The police continue to search for additional suspects involved in the crimes.
