Alongan was shot dead in Barangay Fatima, General Santos City on April 20 by two suspects.

General Santos City Police Director Colonel Jomar Yap said that on April 22, 2023, they arrested Jenillo Bonghayo Sotto, 30, also known as “Boyaks. Sotto was arrested in Barangay Klinan 6, Polomolok, South Cotabato.

“Follow-up operations led to the arrest of the alleged mastermind Armah Janna Dupalco Perez, a resident of Barangay Calumpang, General Santos City,” Yap said.

Police Captain Adolf Dave Diaz, acting commander of Gen. Santos City Police Station 7, said that Sotto was a former hitman of the New People’s Army Guerilla Front 71 of the Far South Mindanao Regional Committee.

Yap said that they filed murder charges against the two suspects. “We will give justice to the murder of PCpl Alongan and to his family,” Yap said.
