DAVAO CITY — SECURITY guards in Davao del Norte will not have to travel to Davao City to secure their licenses as the Police’s Regional Civil Security Unit (RCSU)-11 recently opened its satellite office at Davao del Norte Sports and Tourism Complex in Tagum City.
Police Colonel Julius Silagan, RCSU-11 commander, led in the inauguration with Assistant Provincial Administrator Hazel Zafra; Police Colonel Julius Borja, Davao Norte Police Provincial Director for Operations; and Atty. Meliton Lemos, chapter president of Regional Security Association.
In his speech, Silagan said the satellite office is now ready accept applications for license of security guards, security agencies, firearms registration and License to Own and Possess Firearms (LTOPF) for Davao del Norte, Davao Oriental and Davao de Oro.
“Dili na sila necessary moadto pa sa Davao City para mo-process ug mo-renew sa ilang mga license sa security ug mgabaril kay naa na ta opisina mismo sa Tagum (You don’t necessarily have to go to Davao City to process or to renew your license as security guards and your firearms, we already have an office here in Tagum),” Ilagan stressed.
He added that the setting up of satellite office is in response to the government’s promise to make the licensing process easy and relatively accessible.
Silagan recalled that before, applicants for license or renewal of license would have to be absent from work to go to Davao amid the threat of being infected with COVID-19.
He also thanked Governor Edwin Jubahib for giving them an area where the satellite is now situated.
Jubahib also revealed his office’s plan to have “one-stop-shop” service for the convenience of applicants in getting requisites in processing licenses.
Meanwhile, Lemos said the satellite office is a big help for applicants within Davao del Norte and neighboring provinces because “they would not have to go far”.
Lemos nevertheless expressed hope that RCSU-11 will be efficient in processing applications, considering that applications in Visayas and Mindanao would usually take more than four months to finish while in Manila would only take a day.
He added that he joined in endorsing to the Regional Development Council to regionalize the issuance of licenses to security guards, including the processing of LTOPF applications.
