Public school teachers want justice over colleague’s death in Maguindanao Sur

DAVAO CITY — Public school teachers of Kauran Elementary School cried justice over the death of teacher Charles Candolo Fuentes who was gunned down by three unidentified suspects while on his way home on Saturday night in barangay Kauran in the town of Ampatuan, Maguindanao del Sur.

“We Cry for Justice” says the post in the official Facebook Page of the school.

It further stated: “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts. ?? The whole Kauran ES educative family mourns the sudden death of a young , dedicated, promising great teacher and a very well-loved person Sir Charles Candolo Fuentes . The impact he leaves behind is both lasting and profound.”

The post said “the sudden loss has left a void in our hearts & in our school which will be difficult to fill. Sir Charles, your influence will forever endure and your legacy will always be remembered. We offer our deepest sympathy to the loved ones at this difficult time.”

In a report, Ampatuan Police Chief Captain Guiseppe Tamayo said, Fuentes, 30, a teacher of the village’ Kauran Elementary School was driving his motorbike when the suspects flagged down the victim and shot him , afterwhich took his motorbike.

Hours later, Tamayo said, the members of Philippine Army who were manning checkpoint in barangay Kapinpilan, Ampatuan, arrested one of the suspects who was still riding the motorbike of the victim. The checkpoint is ten kilometers away from the crime scene.

The police, Tamayo said, considered the incident as a case of “Agaw Motor” and robbery.

police investigators found two empty shells of .45 caliber pistol at the crime scene.

The police withheld the identity of the arrested suspect as the police operations is still on-going.
