Radio Broadcaster ‘Boy Pana’ Shot Dead in Bislig City

DAVAO CITY (July 21) — A local radio broadcaster, Erwin Segovia, popularly known on-air as “Boy Pana,” was shot and killed on Monday morning, July 21, in Barangay Mangagoy, Bislig City.

According to initial police reports, the incident occurred past 7:00 the morning, when unidentified gunmen opened fire on Segovia who was riding his motorbike near the water district of said locality. He sustained fatal gunshot wounds and was declared dead on the spot by responding authorities.

Segovia was a well-known personality and a commentator was affiliated with dxCB 98.5 FM, in Bislig was a hard-hitting commentator in his on-air program “Diritsahan ni “Boy Pana” Se govia. He tackled politics and social issues.

As of this writing, investigators have yet to establish the motive behind the killing. Police are gathering CCTV footage and eyewitness accounts to identify the suspect or suspects involved. A special investigation task group may be formed to expedite the probe.

The local government and media colleagues have condemned the killing and called for swift justice.
