Rape with homicide filed vs killer of cosmetic manager Corpuz

DAVAO CITY – The Davao City Police Office (DCPO) has filed rape with homicide Monday (March 22) against the suspect behind the killing of a cosmetic manager, Christine Sunga Corpuz who was found dead in Buhangin District on March 1.

DCPO spokesperson Captain Rose Aguilar said Wednesday the lone suspect whose name was withheld so as not to preempt the possible apprehension of the suspect has also pending cases of statutory rape and child abuse cases.

Corpuz was reported missing in the afternoon of February 28 after she left from their residence and asked permission from her husband to go to the tailoring shop at San Pedro Village, Buhangin but failed to return homet until she was found lifeless at the grassy area at the back of McDonald’s beside Ladislawa Village in Buhangin District the following day.

According to Aguilar the police are committed to solve the killing of the 47-year old Corpuz, a resident of NCCC Village, Bajada this city.

“Ang pinakamaayong balita is padulong na gyud para mahatagan og hustisya ang pamilya sa biktima since naka-identify nata, naka-file na ta og case,” Aguilar said.

DCPO Chief Colonel Kirby John Kraft previously confirmed that Corpuz had been raped and eventually killed by the suspect.

The autopsy also showed that the cause of her death was Blunt Traumatic Head Injuries Asphyxia by Suffocation.

The same medical findings reveal that there was clear evidence of blunt trauma to the genital area confirming that she was really raped.
