Mati City — Mati’s first bishop, Bp. Emeritus Patricio Hacbang Alo died Tuesday, April 13, 2021 at the age of 81 according to his successor’s brief statement.

Bishop Abel Apigo, DD in his official statement as the shepherd of the Diocese of Mati said, the Most Reverend Patricio H. Alo, DD, the Bishop Emeritus of the Diocese died at around 4:35 in the afternoon today.

Bishop Alo entered the Episcopacy in 1981 when he was installed Auxiliary Bishop of Davao. In 1984, Bp. Alo was named the first bishop of the newly erected Diocese of Mati.

He had served the Catholic faithful as priest for 57 years.
