DAVAO CITY –Two local road sections in Davao Oriental have been newly paved to improve accessibility for rural communities in Mati City and Lupon.

According to DPWH Regional Office 11 Director Juby B. Cordon, the projects include a 640-meter, two-lane concrete road in Barangay Tamisan, Mati City.

This road, now in use by local farmers of coconut, banana, and mango trees, connects the Dahican-Lawigan road to Barangay Bobon.

Additionally, an 800-meter farm-to-market road has been completed in Barangay Bagumbayan, Lupon. This two-lane road, designed for two-way traffic, links to an existing road leading to Barangay Bagumbayan.

“These new roads significantly impact rural communities by improving access to local markets, healthcare, education, and other livelihood opportunities,” said Cordon.

The combined cost of the road projects was ₱34.12 million, funded and implemented by the DPWH Davao Oriental 2nd District Engineering Office under District Engineer Jane D. Cainghog.
