DAVAO CITY (September 5) — Mayor Mariano Blanco of Ronda Cebu was shot dead Wednesday  at about 1:30 this morning inside his office.

Blanco was  inside the mayor’s office at the municipal hall when the assailants shot him.

Senior Police Officer 1  Dionesio  Togapo of Ronda Police Office  in an interview  with reporters said,  two job order employees who were inside the office revealed four  unidentified gunmen entered  the  municipal  building where the mayor has been staying.

Togapo during the interview said  the tagalog-speaking suspects used the backdoor to enter the building.

He revealed  “Naay van nga puti niabot dayon, nisaka sa taas, gi-singgitan ug Dapa! Dapa! (A van white arrived and the suspects went up, then the suspects shouted dropt! drop!”).

In 2016, President Rodrigo Duterte mentioned Blanco as  among those listed in  narcopolitics.

“The suspects forcibly opened the back door,” Togapo added.

Blanco is the uncle of Vice Mayor Jonah John Ungab, who was killed five months ago by still unidentified suspects.

Ungab also served as legal counsel to alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa.-Editha Z. Caduaya/NewsLine.ph
