Russian nabbed for sexual abuse

CEBU CITY — Police arrested on Friday, May 18, a 45-year-old Russian national for allegedly molesting a nine-year-old girl.

The mother of the nine-year-old victim reported the abuse to the police. She alleged that the foreigner touched her daughter’s privates while taking a bath.

Consolacion Police Chief Gerard Ace Pelare identified the suspect as Dmitri Nikuli, 45. Nikuli was arrested in Barangay Lamac, Consolacion, Cebu.

Senior Police Officer 2 Marjorie B. Paller of the Consolacion Police Station-Women and Children’s Protection Desk also rescued six girls —
ages 5, 8, 9, 11, 12 and 16 — all from nearby Mandue City when Nikuli was arrested.

The police chief said the Russian national became close with the victims and invited them to his house. The girls where victims of a fire in Mandaue and was the time the Russian national befriended the victims.

Nikuli will face charges in Violation of Republic Act (RA) 8353, or the Anti-Rape Law, in relation to RA 7610, or the Special Protection of Children against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
