Sara Duterte under self-quarantine for COVID-19

DAVAO CITY —-City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has placed herself under quarantine as a precautionary measure against the spread of COVID-19.

A statement released by the City Mayor’s Office says “Mayor Sara Duterte shall undergo a voluntary monitored home quarantine and has signed up as a Person Under Monitoring under the Davao City Health Office.”

This, after one of her employees at their residence “Was unwell last night and is now also listed as a Person Under Monitoring,” the statement added.

.Duterte-Carpio was in Manila to attend the proceedings of her confirmation as reserved colonel of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. Afterwhich she was in a lunch meeting with Committee on Environment Senator Sherwin Gatchalian in Manila and they discussed important matters for Davao City.

Senator Gatchalian is himself under a self-quarantine in an announcement made last night.

While Mayor Sara has not suffered from flu-like symptoms, she chose to undergo self-quarantine to protect others if she may be found to be sick in the next few days. She is now confined in an isolated bedroom at her residence and will continue to work through emails, messaging, and videotelecon., the statement added.
