MANILA – Lawmakers have one common wish – for the public to share love and hope particularly this Christmas season.

Senator Nancy Binay said while the country and the world are yet to be free from various health threats, Filipinos should always think positively, the way they did during the almost three years of the pandemic brought about by the coronavirus disease.

“Many of us have been feeling the pinch, and the pain, and perhaps do not see a reason to celebrate Christmas. Yet time and time again, we are reminded that so much love and hope remain, and we see people continue to share what they have –time, resources, compassion– to help their brethren who are struggling to cope with our present reality,” Binay said in a statement on Christmas eve.

She urged the public to always love and hope as this would pave the way for the country to recover from the economic burden caused by the pandemic.

”Damayan, pagtutulungan, pagmamahalan, lagi’t lagi natin itong ginagawa nang bukal sa ating loob. Sa ganitong paraan tayo makakabangon. Maligayang Pasko sa sambayanang Pilipino” (We must help and love one another without hesitations. In that way, we will rise up. Merry Christmas), Binay said.

Senator Loren Legarda, for her part, reminded the public to be grateful for all the blessings, as these are the reflections of God’s unfailing love. She also urged the Filipinos to reflect on the experiences that made them wiser.

“I pray for everyone’s good health, happiness, love, and peace of mind. Let us continue to serve our people with passion and purpose,” Legarda said in a separate statement.

Senator Grace Poe, meanwhile, said while they were a bit sad because they will be celebrating Christmas without her mother, actress Susan Roces for the first time, she still wished all Filipinos to spread love.

“Dalangin ko ang inyong mabuting kalusugan, payapang kalooban, at pusong puno ng pagmamahal ngayong Kapaskuhan (“I pray for your good health, peace of mind, and hearts full of love this Christmas),” Poe said in her video message posted on social media-.PNA
