DAVAO CITY-— The retrieval operation for the victims of the February 6 landslide at the ground zero in Masara, Maco Davao de Oro was suspended Tuesday afternoon after the geologist monitoring the retrieval operation noticed soil erosion along the stretch of the landslide area at around 3:00 in the afternoon.

At around 1:12 in the afternoon, the siren alarmed at ground zero and heard a siren, everyone hurriedly went to safer ground.

It was also the same time when a press briefing was held at the Incident Command Post some ten (10) away from ground zero.

Engr. Ferdinand Dobli, Apex Mining Corporation community relations chief told the reporters “The Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) notified that there might be a possible movement or trace of landslide why we moved our ground command.”

The ground command used to be at the abandoned house of the village chief, “But due to the information from MGB they transferred to another ground around 50 meters offset,” he revealed.

The house of the village chief is located at an uphill of ground zero.

After the alarm, the ground commander suspended the search and retrieval operation as water was observed dripping from the soil where the soil erosion was noticed.
