Son fatally stabbed his father in Davao City

DAVAO CITY – A 60-year-old laborer was fatally stabbed by his own son following a heated altercation in Tugbok District, Davao City, on the night of February 4, 2025.

The victim, identified as Rolando Makiling Dasig, a resident of Purok Tisa, Barangay Talandang, succumbed to multiple stab wounds. The suspect, his 26-year-old son, Raymond Itang Dasig, was immediately taken into custody following the incident.

According to the initial investigation by the Los Amigos Police Station 10, Rolando and Raymond had just left a neighbor’s birthday celebration when they stopped by the house of another family member, Richard Dasig.

Shortly after, neighbor Elizabeth Dasig Bugais reported hearing a commotion inside Richard’s house. Concerned, she went to check and saw Raymond emerging from the house, covered in blood, while allegedly stating, “It’s over. I killed Dad because he attacked first.”

At the time, Raymond was holding a knife, which he later discarded in the garden area of the house.

Authorities noted that Raymond sustained three wounds on his right arm, which were initially believed to have been inflicted by his father. However, further investigation—including the statement of a 14-year-old grandson of the victim (and nephew of the suspect)—suggested that Raymond may have inflicted the injuries on himself.

The suspect surrendered to Barangay Captain Gil Lopez and members of the Revitalized Barangay Police (R-PSB) Cluster 12, who were stationed in the area then.

Rolando Dasig was rushed to the Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) but was declared dead on arrival due to multiple stab wounds.

Raymond is currently in police custody and is expected to face parricide charges. Authorities continue their investigation to establish the full circumstances of the incident.
