Staff of Maguindanao mayoralty candidate injured in grenade attack

DAVAO CITY–The secretary of Parang, Maguindanao del Norte mayoralty candidate was injured after a grenade was lobbed inside her residence Friday dawn, January 25.

Aira Abedin, was inside her residence in Barangay Nituan, when the grenade exploded near her bedroom causing injuries in various parts of her body.

Abedin is the secretary of Parang Vice Mayor Adnan Biruar, who is running for the mayoralty this coming May midterm elections.

Police report revealed that the still unidentified bomber lobbed the grenade and hurriedly left the crime scene.

Brig. General Romeo Macapaz, regional director of Philippine National Police in Bangsamoro Region told reporters that he has ordered the Parang PNP to investigate the case and has asked the local authorities to intervene to avoid panic among residents.
