DAVAO CITY — In preparation for the influx of people during the Holy Week, Task Force Davao has augmented its force to ensure an orderly and peaceful observance of this year’s commemoration.
Colonel Darren E. Comia, commander of Task Force Davao told Newsline “we are securing 29 Roman Catholic churches and we asked for additional personnel from the 10th Infantry Division to augment our existing force for the activities.”
Beefing up security, according to Comia, is necessary as they expect an influx of people to churches and visitors from other regions given the long weekend.
“We are closely coordinating with other law enforcement groups for the purpose and the established security measures will be implemented,” Comia stressed.
The security measures at the border checkpoints remain the same and people must expect more mobile checkpoints as the Davao City Police Office does parallel security.
For churchgoers, Comia reiterated:
- No Backpack;
- No Jacket;
- Transparent water container only and;
- Only transparent bags are allowed for guest with kids
For motorist, Comia, stressed “The regular check on vehicles, body frisking and other established modalities, will be observed the rolling down of car windows and opening of tool boxes for motorbikes remain.”
He also asked Davaoeños and visitors to embrace the city’s culture of security asking the public “Pag may Nakita, Dapat Magsalita”.–ezc
