DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The National Housing Authority (NHA) will build 12,016 housing units out of the P4-billion unspent budget for Yolanda rehabilitation and reconstruction program.
The additional units will address the housing needs of the survivors who are left out in the resettlement project.
“There is a need to provide additional housing to accommodate those who were not provided housing units in the previous housing allocation,” said Marcelino Escalada Jr., NHA General Manager said.
Escalada who visited Eastern Visayas Wednesday said his agency will allocate additional P4-billion to realize the project.
The President, according to Escalada has specific instructions “to provide shelter for all Yolanda survivors and we have to realize that.”
Earlier on, the regional Development Council of Eastern Visayas passed a resolution asking the President to accommodate survivors who until now do not have a house.
