GENERAL SANTOS CITY (December 14)— The provincial government of South Cotabato has completed nearly PHP500 million worth of infrastructure projects in the first three quarters of the year.
Engr. Marnilo Aperocho, chief of the Provincial Engineer’s Office, said Friday the accomplished projects comprise structures that were funded by the local government and national government agencies.
From January to September, he said some 84 infrastructure projects worth a total of PHP497,699,340.29 were completed and eventually turned over to beneficiaries.
Aperocho said these among the 136 projects worth over PHP1 billion that were implemented by the provincial government this year.
“Most of the completed projects were bridge construction and road concreting or upgrading,” he said in a media forum.
Aperocho said the bridge projects included the Matlong Bridge in Banga town worth PHP19.8 million and the Naci Bridge in Surallah town, PHP24.8 million.
Aperocho said 52 projects worth PHP502,586,558.13 are currently undergoing implementation within the province’s 10 towns and lone city.
He said these include 18 road concreting and three bridge construction projects.
“Based on our projections, these will be completed by the first quarter of 2019,” he added. (Fruto Sumagaysay/PNA)
