DAVAO CITY (April 12) —President Rodrigo Duterte on Thursday said he will fire more corrupt officials in government before he leaves for an official trip to China.
“Next week, when I fly back to report to work, before I leave for China, marami akong tatanggalin,” Duterte stressed.
This, as he encouraged the public to report to him cases of corruption and further utilize the 8888 hotline for this matter.
The President was been warning officials and employees in government not to use their positions for personal gain, as he made promised to the Filipino people that he will get rid of corrupt public servants.
A NewsLine source revealed, Duterte has asked for a lifestyle check among officials and employees who have been reported to have accumulated wealth during their incumbency.
Duterte said the process is done gradually because he waits for the report to confirm if the graft allegations against the officials are legitimate.
“I vowed to lessen the corruption but I will fire more next week. I am just waiting for [the] report,” he noted.
“I told them, ‘you give me your report and if I find it justifiable, you can stay. But if there is corruption, ‘I’m sorry,'” he said.-Editha Z. Caduaya/NewsLine.ph
