66 distressed OFWs from Kuwait now back in PHPosted on
DAVAO CITY – Sixty-six distressed Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) from Kuwait are finally home.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) in a statement said , the group who arrived Wednesday night, was the 8th Batch of OFWs assisted by the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait through its Assisted Repatriation Program.
Todate, the DFA said, some 425 distressed OFWs have returned home through the repatriation program.
DFA Undersecretary Sarah Lou Arriola said, the agency facilitates the repatriation of OFWs with expired visas or absconding cases in Kuwait.
The DFA provided the tickets from Kuwait to the final destination in the Philippines.
A total of PHP9.2 million has been spent for the repatriation of OFWs from Kuwait, the DFA said.-JAP
