Quake-hit evacuees affected by hail storm transferred to another site

DAVAO CITY –— The earthquake-hit evacuees of Makilala town in North Cotabato, whose tents were either blown or destroyed by the hail storm on Monday afternoon were transferred to another site.

North Cotabato Acting Vice Governor Shirlyn Macasarte said 32 families who earlier occupied the Santos Land Subdivision site were transferred to Makilala High School.

“We are setting up 100 inflatable tents donated by Mayor Marcy (Marcelino Teodoro) of Marikina. Setting up 30 DSWD tents for Makilala Elem School as well,” she said in a post.

The provincial government, according to Macasarte, is also preparing clothes, blankets and malong “Based on stocks na available.”

However, some families, she said, have decided to again put-up their tents instead of transferring to another site.

She also thanked the donors who provided mats and blankets for the affected residents.

Hundreds of evacuees were drenched with rain water as hail storm hit the town late Monday afternoon, November 11.
