ILIGAN CITY —- Police authorities arrested on Sunday a jail guard from Lanao del Sur , transporting P1.36-millon worth of “shabu” Barangay Tampilong, Marawi City.
Colonel Madzgani Mukaram, director of Lanao del Sur police, identified the suspect as Walid Nasser Usman, 32 and a holder was intercepted at a checkpoint carrying the suspected shabu in his orange Yamaha Aerox with plate number 1017-8076340.
Police report said he is a resident of Baloi, Lanao del Norte but his identification cards indicated Mipaga, Marawi City as his home address.
Operatives of the Regional Drugs Enforment Unit 10 (RDEU-10) followed Usman from Iligan City after receiving reports he was transacting and transporting big volume of drugs to Marawi City.
Siezed from Usman was around 200 grams of believed to be shabu with estimate market value of 1.36 million pesos, driver’s license and an identification card indicating he is an employee of Lanao del Sur Provincial Jail.
But Mukaram said the provincial jail warden of Lanao del Sur denied Usman being their employee. “Sabi ni jail warden, hindi daw nila naging empleyado itong nahuli. Pero ang papa nito ay dating computer analyst nila.”
Because of this, Mukaram requested the provincial jail warden to issue a certificate about Usman’s status, they are now validating the authenticity of the suspect’s identification card and his driver’s licene.
“Kasi kung totoong di siya empleyado ng city jail, posibleng peke ang ID niya, posible ring peke ang driver’s license niya, tatadtarin ko siya ng maraming kaso maliban sa drugs,” Mukaram said.
Report from the public information office of the Police Regional Office (PRO) 10 said Usman is a jail officer and was tagged as high valued individual (HVI) for being a “government employee and based on the confiscated drugs”.
”He was under surveillance for one month,” according to Lieutenant Colonel Mardy Hortillosa, information officer of PRO 10.
The suspect is now detained at Marawi City Police Station while charges for violating Dangerous Drugs Act of the Republic Act 9165 is being prepared.-Divina M. Suson
