3 Davao COVID-19 patients die, 23 others confinedPosted on
DAVAO CITY — The Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC) on March 28 confirmed the death of three coronavirus disease (COVID-19) patients and reports have it the respective families immediately cremated the remains of their loved ones.
The SPMC, in a bulletin published on their official website Saturday, indicated ninety three (93) persons are under investigation (PUI); twenty six (26) are confirmed cases; and three (3) have died.
The bulletin likewise stated that twenty-three (23) are currently admitted.
Dr. Leopoldo Vega, SPMC Medical Center Chief, in an interview with Newsline , confirmed that the reported figures represent the whole Davao region.
Health authorities have yet to confirm claims and photos circulating that the three were among those who went to New Matina Gallera on March 7 for the six-cock national derby.
The Department of Health (DOH) on Friday revealed 96 new cases, bringing the total number of confirmed cases in the country to 803. Three (3) patients were reported to have recovered now raising the total number of recoveries to 31.
The DOH also revealed nine (9) additional patients have died, bringing the total death count to 54.
Several PUIs have underwent coronavirus testing but until now the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM) in Manila has yet to release the test results.
