MANILA – The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) recorded 88 new confirmed coronavirus cases on Friday among Filipinos abroad.
This brings the total number of Covid-19 cases among overseas Filipinos to 837. Friday’s increase was recorded as the highest daily increase since the end of March 2020.
“The DFA, together with its Foreign Service Posts, continue to rally the support and cooperation of our people in adhering to preventive measures and restrictions imposed by different local health authorities and agencies, and remains dedicated to providing assistance to the Covid-19-positive Filipino nationals as needed,” DFA Assistant Secretary Eduardo Meñez said in a statement.
The positive cases were from Asia Pacific region at 272, 236 in Europe, 152 in Middle East/Africa and 177 in the Americas.
DFA record also showed that there are 248 recoveries and 106 deaths among overseas Filipinos. Eight new recoveries were recorded from the Americas and three new deaths in the same region and from the Middle East.
Meanwhile, 200 seafarers from Frankfurt, Germany arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Friday. They were required to undergo a 14-day mandatory “facility quarantine”.
