DAVAO CITY — A beneficiary of the government’s Social Amelioration Program for indigents, was arrested dealing about P4-million worth of illegal drugs ‘Shabu’ to a government agent in a buy-bust operation along the busy district of Bunawan this city on Thursday at about 11 o’clock in the morning, June 25.
Bunawan Police chief Major Noel Villahermosa identified the suspected drug leader as Debbie Mae Abdul, 42, and a resident of Bucana Brgy 76-A.
The police report stated that Abdul was on her way home from Zamboanga City with illegal drugs when the buy-bust was conducted.
She was caught on the act of accepting the marked money amounting to P40,000 from Corporal Jenniza Karen Japinan who acted as the buyer.
Bunawan is 23 kilometers away from the city commercial district and the second barangay of Davao City from the borders of Davao del Norte connecting Butuan and Northern Mindanao.
Police sources said the operatives expected her to return to Davao City via the Davao-Bukidnon road, but she traveled via the Davao-Butuan national highway.
When police authorities frisked Abdul in the presence of barangay officials and other witnesses as prescribed by law, they were able to confiscate 250grams of illegal drugs placed in four big sachets which have an estimated market value of P4-million from her possession.
Police recovered an identification card from the suspect which stated that she is a beneficiary of the SAP program.
Further investigation revealed that the husband of the suspect is still in Davao City jail for possession of illegal drugs.
The buy-bust, a joint operation from personnel of SOG/CDEU led by P/Maj Milan Naz; PCAPT Nolan Tagsip, PEMS Elbert P Matilac, PSMS John Mark Castro, PMSg Oliver Pacot, PMSG Isaias Valena III, PSSG Junjay Tumbado, PSSG Rey Anthony Escaro, PSSG Ace Sarsoza, PCpl Jephte Gelicania, PCpl Philip Carl Luayon, PCpl Joefry Ganir, PCpl Junilzar L Gualdjara, and PCpl Jenniza Karen Japinan and personnel from Police Station 6, Bunawan led by Villahermosa together with PSsg Dovie Anel Pantonial, PCpl Jonathan Magdagasang, PCpl Donald Digdigan and Pat Vincent Meneses.
Abdul will be charged in court for violation of RA 9165 or the Conprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.-Reeya Nuñez
