ILIGAN CITY — A dismissed policeman was arrested Wednesday morning (July 22) for facing murder case after more than two years of hiding.
Major Rixell Torayno, chief of Iligan City Police Station 1, said Creighen Padayhag, a resident of Barangay Tipanoy, was collared at his rented apartment in Green Village in Barangay Hinaplanon, Iligan.
Padayhag was arrested by virtue of arrest warrant issued and signed on January 22, 2019, by Judge Leonor Quiṅones of Regional Trial Court Branch 6, based in Iligan City.
Torayno said, there was resistance from Padayhag when they arrived to serve the arrest warrant but when he saw that several former colleagues were outside his apartment “he peacefully submitted himself”.
Padayhag was one of the seven accused in the death of a 21-year old Rafshanie Amerol Azis who was shot dead in mid-August 2016.
Azis was a graduating Criminology student who was supposed to graduate after his internship at the Iligan City Police Office where Padayhag was assigned as personnel of the intelligence unit.
Other policemen implicated in the case were then Senior Police Officer Regel Rabago, PO2 Raymond Cuyos, PO2 Dionirel Cutanda, PO1 Janeth Mission, PO1 Mabelle Hubilla, and PO1 Andro Sumaylo.
Only Padayhag and Sumaylo were indicted while cases for five others were dismissed.
Sumaylo is included in the arrest warrant issued by Quiṅones. He is at-large as of this writing. Newsline
