‘Hatid-Tulong’ benefits 218K OFWsPosted on
DAVAO CITY — The government’s Hatid-Tulong Program, to assist and transport stranded OFWs in Metro Manila back to their respective provinces has benefited 218, 452 overseas Filipino workers.
The program is in response to President Rodrigo Duterte’s order to send home the stranded OFWs from metro Manila to their provinces.
As of 24 September 2020, the ‘Hatid-Tulong Program’ has assisted and served a total of 218,452 OFWs, 67,668 of which were transported by land, 103,930 using air transport (data for land and air transport are from May 25 – September 24) and via sea transport 46,854 (sea travel from April 27 – September 24).
Under the program stranded OFWs are sent home to their provinces with free transportation and food while their respective local government units prepares the isolation facility for the mandatory 14-day quarantine.
Hatid-Tulong is a collaboration among government agencies which include the Office of the President, National Task Force for Covid-19, Department of Transportation, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE), Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP), among others.-Newsline.ph
