ZAMBOANGA CITY – An alleged drug dealer was arrested and two packs of suspected shabu with an estimated value of P1.1 million were confiscated during a police buy-bust operation here at around 8:40 p.m. on Friday, January 15.
Zamboanga Peninsula Police (PRO-9) Regional Director Brig. Gen. Ronaldo Genaro E. Ylagan identified the drug suspect as Nurhan Ismula, alias Nick, 32, and a resident of Sitio Mulu-Muluan, Barangay Mercedes here.
Ylagan said a group of policemen from the Zamboanga City Police Station 6 (ZCPS-6) conducted a buy-bust operation at Attih Clan, Checkpoint, Barangay Arena Blanco on Friday night that resulted in the arrest of the suspect and the confiscation from him of two packs of shabu weighing 97 grams, with an estimated value of P1.1 million pesos.
Ylagan claimed Ismula was placed under surveillance when the police learned that he was engaged in trading shabu.
On Wednesday, January 13, PNP chief Debold Sinas ordered that Major Jivertson Pelovello, head of this city’s Drug Enforcement Unit, be held under restrictive custody after testing positive for drug use.
Pelovello, who is now with the Personnel Holding Center of the Zamboanga Peninsula Regional Police Office based in the city, facing pre-charge and summary dismissal proceedings.
“Anybody who will test positive for drug use does not deserve to stay in the service any minute longer,” Sinas said. – Newsline.ph
