President Duterte thanks healthcare workers, frontliners on Labor DayPosted on
AS THE COUNTRY celebrates Labor Day May 1, President Rodrigo Roa Duterte thanked healthcare workers and frontliners for ensuring unhampered delivery of goods and services to sustain communities and industries as the country’s seemingly never-ending battle against COVID-19 goes on.
“On behalf of a grateful nation, I express my deepest gratitude to our hardworking healthcare workers and essential frontliners,” President Duterte said in a statement released by Malacanang.
For his part, Senator Christopher Lawrence Go said in a statement assured the Filipino people that the government under President Duterte will continue to seek and implement ways for the economy to recover.
President Duterte stressed that the unprecedented health crisis that crippled industries across the world shifted the Filipino workers’ driving force, from working hard to support their families and advance their careers to toiling tirelessly so that our society will continue to survive.
“To all Filipino workers here and abroad, let me assure you that this administration will endeavor as vigorously as you have in creating an environment where security of tenure, statutory labor standards and workers’ rights are not only upheld and protected, but also cherished as the foundations of a strong and thriving workforce,” the President said.
Meanwhile, Go said that the sacrifices of Filipino workers – including those who lost their jobs to the pandemic – were behind the improvement of our economy.
“The development that we see today is because of their hard work and skills,” he said.
In assuring of determined government efforts for economic recovery, Go also called on his fellow officials in the government and those owning large companies to attend to the needs of their employees and workers, particularly those gravely affected by COVID-19.
