Total lockdown in Jolo after twin bombings

DAVAO CITY — Jolo City Mayor Kerkhar S. Tan on Monday afternoon ordered the total lockdown of Jolo town, following the two bombings which killed six soldiers and a suspected suicide bomber in broad daylight.

In an advisory from the chief executive, released at 2:30 in the afternoon Monday, it states “Total lockdown in the municipality of Jolo shall be implemented starting today August 24, 2020, due to the recent twin bombing in downtown Jolo. Cancellation of entry and exit to and from Jolo shall be strictly enforced except in some special cases. Lockdown shall be lifted until the investigation shall be finished”.

The lockdown took place hours after six soldiers and a suspected lady suicide bomber were killed, while twenty others were wounded in two separate explosions in Jolo, Sulu at about 11:53 Monday morning, August 24. Newsline.ph
