COTABATO CITY – The municipal tourism office of Arakan, North Cotabato, reported Tuesday that more than 42,600 local and foreign tourists have visited tourist destinations in the town since January this year.
Arakan is an upland town in North Cotabato known for its waterfalls, strawberry farms, and mountain resorts.
Arakan Mayor Rene Rubino said as of August 15, the town tourism office has recorded a total of 42,609 tourist arrivals.
“The number is 40 percent higher as compared to the same period last year,” Rubino said in a statement.
Among the top tourist attractions are the Vowvulon – Bugak Nature’s Spring and Swimming Resort, Budaco Falls, Matigol Falls, Epol Falls, Buda Vista Grande, Alice Log House, Eagles Ridge Rest House, Balbon Resort, Laguas Falls, Anutong Mountain Resort, Thannie Strawberry Farm, Kablynz Inn and Swimming Pool, Sumalili Peak, and the White Hills View, among others.
Rubino has appealed to the people of Arakan to maintain peace and order in town so more tourists will come and enjoy nature.
He said tourism is a huge help in the local economy so everyone in Arakan must visit the destination through the local government’s “Huwag Maging Dayuhan Sa Sariling Bayan” program. -PNA
