DAVAO CITY — The city government here in collaboration with Unilab Philippines partnered to put up a laboratory facility at the parking area of the Davao International Airport.

A pre-fabricated building made of container van and its equipment was donated by the Unilab Philippines to the city government in an effort to help combat the Coronavirus pandemic.

Southern Philippines Medical Center OIC Chief Dr. Ricardo Audan in an interview said, the company donated the RT-PCR machine “On condition that the city government will operate and run the facility, but this will mean we need to put more personnel from our existing staff, and it is a challenge as of now”.

Audan said the city government has trained medical technologists “Maybe we can provide staff to monitor the operations, but everything is being considered, we will meet again”.

Audan along with Davao City Health Officer Josephine Villafuerte, City Engineer Atty. Joey Felizarta and City Tourism Head Generose Tecson inspected the facility on Monday.

The facility is still processing the permit and the license.-Cheche Doabordo/Newsline.ph
