KIDAPAWAN CITY –— A barangay councilor was killed while his police escort was wounded when still unidentified suspects attacked their pick-up truck with bullets in Sitio Dakumaya, Barangay Mamasapano, in the town of Mamasapano, Maguindanao del Sur at around 3:40 p.m. on Sunday.
Maguindanao del Sur provincial Police Office identified the victim as Kagawad Ansari Salim while his police escort who is now confined in a hospital was identified as Staff Sergeant Mansor Sianga.
Initial police investigation showed that the village councilor and his escort came from Barangay Tukanalipao and were heading to Barangay Mamasapano when they were ambushed.
The attackers looted the valuables of the victims including the service pistol of PSSgt. Sianga.
Police has yet to determine the motive behind the killing and the identities of the suspects.
