COTABATO CITY (May 13) — The election day here remains normal despite the explosions of twin bombs outside the New City Hall, last night.

Two bombs exploded but no casualty was reported.

Cotabato City Police Office (CCPO) spokesperson Maj. Jude Marlon Del Carmen said voters trooped to polling centers since early in the morning.

“After that blast, it has no effect for the voters, the casting of votes went normal, ”  he said.

Del Carmen said they are conducting thorough investigation for the identification of the suspects and its motive.

During the post blast investigation, authorities found 40mm fragments which are considered as high explosives.

Del Carmen they could not discount the possibility that the incident was intended to disrupt the conduct of election or destroy the election paraphernalia inside the City Hall.

As of the press time, Del Carman said there are no report of any major violent incidents inside the polling areas except from a reported commotion of two poll watchers but it is still to be verified as of this interview.

But they received reports of Vote Counting Machines (VCM) malfunctions which were addressed by the Commission on Elections (Comelec).-Jian A. Padillo/NewsLine.ph
