Woman dies, partner wounded in Cotabato province ambush

DAVAO CITY —A woman died while her partner was injured in an ambush in at Purok Chariza, Lapu-lapu Street, Barangay Poblacion 1. Midsayap town, Cotabato province on Friday morning,

Lieutenant Colonel John Miridel Calinga, the town chief identified the fatality as Mary Jane Quimot Macunan, 27 years old while her injured partner was identified as Anthony Siosam Mariano, 35 years old, all from Barangay Poblacion 1, Midsayap.

Police reports revealed that the two were riding in the Bajaj 100 motorcycle driven by Mariano when they were ambushed by unidentified suspects.


The crime operatives recovered four (4) caliber 45 pistol cartridges at the crime scene.

Police are looking into angles that a personal grudge was the motive for the crime. Two persons of interest are now being pursued by the Midsayap PNP.
