Young policeman accidentally killed himself

DAVAO CITY — A young police officer was found dead inside his room at around 12:55 this morning, January 1, 2024. His family believe he accidentally fired his service firearms while cleaning it.

The Bansalan Municipal Police Station identified the victim as Patrolman Jhaniel Salip Pepito, 27 years old, resident of Zapanta Subdivision, Barangay Mabuhay, Bansalan, Davao Del Sur.

According to the police report, The victim was found sitting on the floor of his room bleeding and the responding police took him to MABAMA Hospital in Bansalan. But he was declared dead on arrival with bullet wounds in his cheek.

The police victim’s mother, Anita, told the police investigators that she saw her son enter the room and clean his service firearms, but a few minutes later, she heard a gunshot and saw her son bleeding.

The victim was assigned to the 2nd Davao Sur Police Mobile Force Company.
