ZAMBOANGA CITY – In a continued effort to support its residents affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Mayor John Dalipe and Vice Mayor Josephine Pareja led the distribution of financial aid to 1,541 individuals who had contracted COVID-19 between January and September 2022. The beneficiaries, part of the larger group of over 6,000 COVID survivors who experienced mild to moderate infections, will be receiving a P3,000 cash aid from Friday, July 21, to July 28 at the KCC Mall in Gov. Camins.
The City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) was responsible for facilitating the assistance, which is drawn from the city’s 2022 funds. Councilor Jerome Santos also assisted the mayor during the distribution, accompanied by representatives from the CSWDO and paymasters from the City Treasurer’s Office.
The financial aid for COVID-19 survivors is part of the Local Social Amelioration Program (LSAP), which was initiated as a crucial component of the city’s COVID recovery program three years ago. Under this program, beneficiaries who suffered mild to moderate infections are entitled to receive P3,000, while those who faced severe infections will receive P5,000 in cash aid.
The recipients of the assistance on Friday were COVID-19 survivors from various barangays, including Arena blanco, Ayala, Guisao, Baliwasan, Baluno, Bunguiao, Busay, Cabaluay, Boalan, Bolong, Buenavista, Campo Islam, Calarian, Cabatangan, Calabasa, Cacao, Capisan, Cawit, Culianan, Curuan, Dita, Camino nuevo, Canelar, and Divisoria.
