ZAMBOANGA CITY, Philippines — Zamboanga City Mayor Beng Climaco-Salazar has expressed deepest regret on the mishap that transpired during the inspection of Z3R Projects, Riio Hoondo, in Barangay Mariki, Thursday morning, April 26.
“The incident truly shows the poor state of housing projects currently implemented by the National Housing Authority (NHA). I, together with Cong. Albee Benitez, Cong. Celso Lobregat and other officials, staff and some members of the media are first-hand witnesses, and victims, of NHA Region 9’s gross incompetence and negligence,” she said.
Climaco-Salazar and the two congressmen was going to conduct an ocular inspection on the NHA housing project at Rio Hondo when the wooden stilt bridge collapsed.

The Z3R Housing Project was designed to give decent homes to internally displaced persons (IDPs) during the 2013 Zamboanga siege. “Now, they are again victims of NHA’s ineptitude,” she added.
Climaco-Salazar has personally appealed to the Committee on Housing and Urban Development of the House of Representatives led by Cong. Benitez to fully investigate the NHA in Zamboanga City, “including its cohorts, the private contractors of the housing project. Let those found at fault face justice.”-with reports from Mirasol Espinosa/Zamboanga City
