In an effort to provide essential vaccinations to eligible children in Zamboanga City, the Red Cross Zamboanga Bakuna Team embarked on a comprehensive tour throughout the area. Their primary objective was to distribute measles, rubella, and oral polio vaccines to children aged 0 to 59 months.

Working in close coordination with personnel from the Talon-Talon Health Center and barangay health workers, the team aimed to ensure that the vaccines reached as many children as possible.

To reach their intended destinations, the dedicated vaccination team boarded a boat, navigating the waters to access remote areas and provide crucial healthcare services to communities in need.

This vaccination campaign is an integral part of the city’s efforts to extend the measles-rubella oral polio vaccine supplemental immunization activity. The initiative, which commenced on June 1 and will run until June 15, is being implemented by the City Health Office under the directive of the Department of Health.

The primary objective of this campaign is to achieve a target coverage of 95% among the eligible population. By vaccinating as many children as possible, the aim is to mitigate the spread of these preventable diseases and protect the health and well-being of the community.

The Philippine Red Cross-Zamboanga City team joined forces with barangay Culianan, Calarian, Upper Pasonanca, and Tugbungan to maximize the reach and impact of the vaccination drive.

Their collaboration ensures that the campaign can effectively cover a wide range of areas, ensuring that as many eligible children as possible receive the necessary vaccinations.

Through the dedication and commitment of the Red Cross Zamboanga Bakuna Team, along with the support of local health personnel and barangay workers, Zamboanga City is taking significant steps towards safeguarding the health of its youngest residents. By providing these essential vaccines, local health offices aim to provide a healthier future, free from preventable diseases.
