DAVAO ORIENTAL — Governor Nelson L. Dayanghirang led the blessing and turnover of the 12 units of Auto Rickshaw (Baobao) Patrol Cars to the Davao Oriental Police Provincial Office (DOPPO) on Wednesday.
Acting DOPPO Provincial Director Police Colonel Efren Orlina, who received the auto rickshaw vehicles during the ceremony at the Provincial Capitol Covered Court, expressed his gratitude to the provincial government for supporting the continuing efforts of the PNP to further enhance the surveillance capabilities of the police force towards maintaining the peace and order situation in the province, especially amidst the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
“These will promote better performance of our police personnel in the discharge of their duties and functions as law enforcers, bolster their capacity in making peace and order, public safety and internal security in the entire province,” Pol. Col. Orlina added.
He challenged the police force to prove worthy of all the support and generosity of the provincial government by improving the delivery of services and sustain their drive to fulfill their commitment to realize a safer province of Davao Oriental to live, work, visit, and do business.
Vice-Governor Niño Sotero L. Uy who graced the event congratulated the recipients as he appreciated the loud support of the provincial government describing the distribution of patrol vehicles as “a strong symbol of commitment to ensure peace and order in the community.”
Dayanghirang was certain the new units of patrol cars will boost the logistical capabilities of DOPPO and improve the mobility of their personnel to immediately respond to calls for help and public service in the province.
“These will surely strengthen the maintenance of peace and order in the community and the continuous fight against crime and illegal drugs amidst the pandemic,” the Governor said. The units will be equally distributed to the Local Government Units of Mati and Lupon.
In the same ceremony, P1.7 million-worth of livelihood assistance was given to Davao Oriental Federated Vineyard Worker’s Association. This initiative was facilitated by the Provincial Agriculture Office aiming to assist vineyard workers to continually produce more goods and services and livelihood projects.
Provincial Agrarian Reform Officer Rotchie Ravelo thanked the provincial government for providing assistance to the workers.
In his message, President of DOFEVWA Pastor Marlon M. Magno expressed his gratitude to the government for the aid given to the federation.
“This is the first time we ever received a livelihood assistance. More than that, we are happy we are finally recognized. Rest assured, we will make use of this assistance well to produce more for the people to benefit from,” Magno added.
In his response Dayanghirang assured that the province will not stop on its crusade in making Davao Oriental keep its title as one of the most competitive provinces in the region by providing all necessary support to the people.
