120th Araw ng Baganga celebration kicks Off with a bang

BAGANGA, DAVAO ORIENTAL – Hundreds of residents of this town fetes for the 120th Araw ng Baganga as the month-long celebration kicked off at the activity center today, October 2, with a grand opening led by Mayor Ronald “Pepot” Lara.

The festivities began with a serenade in almost all villages with the Baganga Drum and Bugle ensemble which was followed by the Thanksgiving Mass at the Immaculate Conception Parish at 7:00 AM.

The venue was jampacked with excited residents eager to participate in the activities, and security measures were implemented to ensure a safe and orderly celebration.

The event featured a dynamic dance presentation by the youth, captivating the audience with their talents.

Mayor Ronald “Pepot” Lara and Vice Mayor Modesto Layupan presided over the opening of the Araw ng Baganga celebration, delivering messages of unity and gratitude to the people who joined in marking the first day of Baganga’s 120th year.

The event was attended by local government officials, barangay officials, religious leaders, members of the police force, and other residents.

The celebration also included a presentation and sashing ceremony for the 12 candidates vying for the title of Mutya ng Baganga, which will be held on October 17 at the Municipal Gymnasium. Each candidate was represented by different local government agencies and private sectors in Baganga.

Lara encouraged the public to join in the celebration as the LGU prepared various enjoyable activities for the community. The celebration will run until October 29, under the theme “120 Katuig Nagkahiusa, Lig-on Ta, Pakusgan pa, Kay Bongga sa Baganga.”

Citing the resident’s strong support of the programs and efforts of the municipal government, Lara in vernacular said “Without your support, our town haven’t grown this big and well-developed,” -Eugene Hinutan
