DAVAO CITY — A festive celebration of love and unity marked the holiday season in Davao City as 182 couples were married on December 13, 2024, during the much-anticipated ‘Kasalan sa Pasko’ mass wedding ceremony. Organized by the City Government of Davao, the event took place at the Davao City Recreation Center, bringing joy to couples and their families.

Davao City Mayor Sebastian “Baste” Duterte officiated the ceremony, sharing heartfelt messages with the couples as they embarked on their new journey together.

“This is a celebration not only of your love but also of the commitment to build stronger families that contribute to a united and thriving Davao City,”r Duterte said in his address.

The event was graced by Vice Mayor Melchor Quitain Jr., members of the Davao City Council, deputy mayors, and other local officials who extended their congratulations and best wishes to the newlyweds. The presence of the city’s leaders highlighted the local government’s support for family-building initiatives and its dedication to fostering community solidarity.

‘Kasalan sa Pasko’, a beloved annual tradition in Davao City, provides couples with the opportunity to formalize their union in a meaningful yet accessible way.

The City Government covers the cost of the ceremony, ensuring that financial constraints do not hinder couples from celebrating their love. This initiative reflects the city’s commitment to promoting inclusivity and strengthening the social fabric of the community.

Each couple received gifts and tokens from the local government, symbolizing the city’s shared joy in their union. The event also featured festive decorations, music, and a warm holiday atmosphere, making it a memorable day for the couples and their families.

This year’s mass wedding is part of Davao City’s larger efforts to support its residents and spread goodwill during the Christmas season.

As the couples exchanged vows, the event underscored the spirit of love, togetherness, and community that defines the city’s holiday celebrations.

Mayor Duterte, in his closing remarks, wished all the couples enduring love and a happy married life, emphasizing the importance of mutual respect and partnership in building strong families.

“May your love grow stronger each day, and may your families become the cornerstone of a better Davao City,” he said.

The ‘Kasalan sa Pasko’ event continues to serve as a testament to Davao City’s commitment to its residents, showcasing how the local government combines tradition, community spirit, and public service to enrich the lives of its citizens.
